Triphala is a traditional herbal blend that has been used in Asia for centuries. Triphala literally means “three fruits” because Triphala is obtained from three plants or their fruits: Amalaki, Bibhitaki and Haritaki.
These three plants come from the tropical environment. They belong to the genus of myrobalan plants, a botanical family within the family without seeds. Each fruit can also be used separately, but in combination they are many times stronger.
Triphala allegedly has a harmonizing effect on the three dosha vata, pitta and kapha.
