In the case of vitamin K, two forms are distinguished: K1 (phylloquinone) and K2 (menaquinone). They are one of the basic, fat-soluble vitamins, but the body can produce only a very small amount of vitamin K itself. Vitamin K2 is considered to be the more valuable of these two substances.
